Chasing the Dream...Day 133

Woo Hoo! I have another comedy show this week! I am really excited. I am using the same material at a new venue and I am really excited about it! Can't wait. It's my second gig in less than a month! I want to keep the momentum going.

It's a new week and I am going to make this a really productive one.

My internship told me they have a job description for me and salary, they are just waiting for the president to sign off on it. The president has yet to sign off on it. So, I am still in limbo. I really like the company, so I am still hoping this week is the week. At the same time, I don't have time or money to wait around for them. So, tomorrow is my day off and I am going to drop a couple of resumes off to a couple of creative prospects I found and see what happens.

In other news, I am writing a business plan to help me focus on what I want, how I am going to get it and what I hope the outcome will be. My mom, boss and friend had really frank conversations with me last week about my future, writing and lack of focus. I really needed that! I am somewhat all over the place. I really have a hard time focusing on just one thing at a time. My attention span is the worst! I really need a manager, someone who is really honest, well connected and believes in me and will push me. I need a manager to help me take my career to the next level. In the meantime, I am going to do my part and write out all of my goals and a means to making them happen for myself.

I have a lot planned over the next few days. I am fasting in an effort to clear my mind and body of all the negative energy and toxins. I have had a lot of toxic people and energy around me lately and I need to get rid of it all so that I can make my goals and dreams come true. I have a really long list of things I want to do over the next two years before I turn 30! I can't let people, things or situations get in my way.

Some of my 2 year career (and some general) goals:

1. Run the NYC Marathon
2. Peform as much as possible in various art forms, comedy, musicals, drama, poetry, etc.
3.Publish children's book The Pillowcase
4. Publish Everything Is Not Enough
5. Buy a condo
6. Get accepted into a master's program at Howard University
7. Finish writing my one woman show Growing Up White
8. Finish second manuscript, Power (tentative title)

Those are the core goals. I think those are possible!

I really want to start an underground movement for my publishing firm, Renaissance Woman Publishing and production company, Gawdy Girl Productions....

Hey! Maybe, I'll even fall in love and get married at some point (miracles happen)...But, we'll save that thought for the Sam and the City posts.

Here's to a good first week in August...

Wednesday, Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle in Royal Oak, MI 8 pm
Thursday, Southfield Public Library poetry reading, Southfield, MI 7 pm
RENT audition at Cherry Hill Theater in Canton, MI (fingers crossed)
Have a good night!
