This was a pretty good week!
I got a lot done. I feel like I accomplished something.
Yesterday I didn't get to read when I went to the poetry event. They changed the format to celebrate their three year anniversary. So, there was no open mic. But, the MC told me that I would have an opportunity to read next month. I can't wait. It should be fun! I get a really cool vibe from this group and I had a blast last night just sitting and listening. A salsa band performed after the poets and there was dancing. There was this one poem I liked in particular called The Shoes by this really talented female poet. I felt like she was talking to me. It was about a woman who wore her high-heel shoes and even a feather boa. She felt that just because times were bad, didn't mean she had to look bad(If you read my piece Three Inches of Lies posted somewhere in the archives of this blog you understand the connection). She was going to shine no matter what!
I didn't hear from the editor I spoke to on Tuesday. So, I emailed him today and hopefully I will hear something back next week. Or, he will hear from me again!
I have an audition tomorrow for a comedy (play, improv, sitcom type thing) titled Kwame a River 2: The Wrath of Conyers. It should be fun.
I will let you know how tomorrow's audition goes. Fingers crossed.
P.s. I sent my demo to The Detroit Lions today. Fingers and toes crossed.
