One of the most thrilling experiences about being back in Detroit has been the opportunity I have had to meet some amazing artists via my freelance journalism. I have met some of the most incredible authors, dancers, singers, actors and comedians over the past several months. It's such a blessing and so inspirational because the majority of them have been Detroiters and/or Michiganders.
This state is full of talented people who could give any artist in Chicago, NYC or LA a run for their money. It feels good to be from such a talented town!
Speaking of talented people right here in Michigan, here is my latest piece for a show opening this week-Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" will be opening this Thursday at Oakland Community College in Farmington Hills, MI. Here is a link to my advance and interviews with the director, production manager, star and stage manager for Oakland Press: http://www.theoaklandpress.com/articles/2011/03/29/entertainment/doc4d9205a26c567653519743.txt?viewmode=fullstory
Support local theater! It is important!
In other news, I am working on new jokes and I plan on doing an open mic very soon to figure out what works and what doesn't...Stay tuned.
Until next time...
