Bye Bye Summer!

Wow! I can't believe Labor Day is only a couple of days away!

I hope everyone enjoyed our summer months here in Michigan. I loved the intense heat and the heat wave we had! Actually, I don't enjoy being that hot. But, it reminded me of my days in Vegas! In hindsight, it was kind of nice being away from everything familiar and the stresses that can sometimes come along with being home. But, I am so happy to be home as it has brought many blessings to me over the past two years and the past summer (and spring) months have been no exception.

I had the AMAZING opportunity to do Shakespeare this summer. And, in the park, nonetheless. This summer also brought along two of the biggest job interviews of my life which will hopefully turn into the most exciting job of my life-thus far (I am still waiting to hear back but the anticipation and the prospect is so exciting for me)! I was blessed to do some stand-up on the road again this summer. And, most of all, I am writing now more than ever. Sidebar: Speaking of writing-I had this attitude over the past few weeks that I could just develop great copy automatically and I stopped editing my pieces as much as I used to because I thought "I got this." Well, the universe and karma put me in my place because I recently had a piece that required several re-writes and it reminded me that there is always something to learn. There is always room for improvement. You always want to strive to be the best writer but never think that you are. There is always room for growth. There is always someone who can write better than you. Aspiring writers always ask me for advice and I have a great piece of advice for you today: The best quality that you can have as a writer is humility. You always have to remain open to criticism and allow yourself to be flexible. I've always known that but it was nice to have the reminder. I needed it, apparently :-) Anyway, I am grateful to the universe for all of its lessons, and I will keep my mind and heart open to them in professional and personal situations.

Now, back to the summer, this has been an awesome summer for me, professionally. I feel so grateful and blessed. I am a work in progress but I can see doors opening up and I plan on using every bit of ability, creativity and humility that I have to walk through all of them.

P.s. If you'd like to take a peak at some of my pieces/articles you can go to the right margin of this blog and click on one of the links under "Links to Sam White's Articles." I generally post something every few days during the theater season. I will label the newer pieces with September 2011, etc. And, don't forget to check out some of the old stuff too!

P.s.s. For information on my next show, please read prior blog postings below.

Thank you so much for the love and support!

Let's all have an awesome Fall season!
