AUDITION NOTICE: Shakespeare in Detroit Presents: "Antony and Cleopatra"

Interested in doing site-specific Shakespeare? Do you enjoy unique performance experiences? Do you inhabit a team spirit? Do you want to create community engagement through art? Then you might be interested in performing in Shakespeare in Detroit's sophomore production: "Antony and Cleopatra" in March 2014. 

We will be performing the production on March 15 at 7 p.m., March 16 at 2 p.m., March 21 and March 22 at 7 p.m. at Recycle Here in Detroit's New Center. 

I like to call this show "Sustainable Shakespeare" or "Maker Shakespeare" as many of the costumes and set pieces will be created from materials directly from the recycling center. 

This is an ensemble cast. 

Actor 1- White Male- Philo, Agrippa, Messenger, Soldier

Actor 2- White Male- Octavius Caesar

Actor 3- White Male- Antony

Actor 4- Black Female- Cleopatra

Actor 5- White Male- Lepidus, Messenger, Thadius

Actor 6- White Male- Enobarbus

Actor 7- Black Male- Soothsayer, Menas, Eros, Messenger

Actor 8- Black Female- Charmain

Actor 9- Black Male- Iras, Pompey, Messenger

Actor 10- White Female- Octavia, Demetrius, Messenger, Soldier

Auditions are Sunday, Jan. 12 at 1401 Vermont in Detroit (at Ponyride) from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please, email ShakespeareinDetroit@gmail to schedule a time (walk-ins will be accepted, however, those with appointment times will be seen first) and to find out pay rate for roles.

Please, prepare a Shakespeare monologue and bring an extra copy for the show's director, Kyle Grant. In addition, please, bring two copies of your headshot and resume.

Rehearsals will take place Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sundays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Please note: There will be an additional Tuesday OR Wednesday evening rehearsal as well. Actors will be kept in the loop as to when we find a space for those rehearsals. However, the Saturday, Sunday and Monday rehearsals will take place at Ponyride.
